Study investigates mortality in children with epilepsy

New insights into patterns of mortality in children with epilepsy have emerged from a large national study.

Researchers at Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Trust and the Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Heath, London, conducted a prospective surveillance study of deaths in children (aged 16 or younger) diagnosed with epilepsy.

They used British Pediatric Surveillance Unit methodology to monitor deaths occurring in the UK and Ireland in the 13-month period from November 2016 to November 2017.
