MS subtype does not appear to influence familial risk

Data from the Swedish MS Registry have provided insights on the familial risk and heritability of different subtypes of multiple sclerosis (MS).

“For decades, it has been known that MS tends to aggregate within families,” said Dr Ali Manouchehrinia of Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden, who presented the findings at ECTRIMS 2021. “This is due to genetic and environmental factors that family members often share.”
