Artificial intelligence and ML applications are expanding
Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing several fields of science and technology. In health, it provides promising techniques to learn from the abundance of health data to predict patient outcomes. ML is a branch of AI which applies methods of analyzing data to automate analytical model building through recognizing patterns indata.1,2
Application of ML techniques in health research is rapidly growing. The early, yet promising research studies indicate that ML techniques can result in improved prognosis, diagnoses, and treatments; however, further research is required. Here, we briefly explain the state of research regarding ML techniques in the field of SCI and provide two examples of ML techniques that predict mortality and probability of walking following a traumatic SCI.
