Left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) may be more effective than anticoagulants in preventing stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), researchers reported at ISC 2022.
The researchers from Houston Methodist, Texas, USA, retrospectively analyzed data on patients from over 50 health care organizations in 6 countries, using a harmonized electronic medical record research data platform. The analysis focused on adults with AF and no history of stroke prior to initiation of either anticoagulants or LAAC.
