3D mapping detects symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic plaques

Use of ultra-high resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and 3D mapping can provide new insights into the features of symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic plaques, according to research presented at ISC 2022.

Dr Sebastian Sanchez and colleagues at the University of Iowa, in Iowa City, USA, noted that while the study of plaque enhancement using high resolution vessel wall imaging can provide useful prognostic data, analysis is currently limited by plaque sampling and methodological constraints.
