As many as 1 in 8 people with epilepsy do not always follow laws about driving, according to new survey results presented at AES 2018.
The noncompliance largely consisted of concealing information from the Driver Licence Authority (DLA) or from their doctor, with a few people admitting to unlicensed driving.
Specialists at the Prince of Wales Hospital and University of New South Wales, in Sydney, Australia, sent a 52-item questionnaire to all 975 adult patients who attended the hospital’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Service or First Seizure Clinic during a 2-year period from 2014-2016.
